What Happened to Norma Armistead's Children?

My goal is to interview Norma Armistead so that I can get more of her side of the story. She is an old woman now, and she is ailing with what I believe is diabetes. What I would like to know is what ever happened to the rest of her children. I had a chance to speak with the authors of the book about her case. They spent a great deal of time talking to her about the murder. She really opened up to them. You will find the book equally fascinating. The names in the book were changed, and so were the locations so it was hard to piece Norma Armistead's background together.

All I know, is that she had several children, and she was married several times. She also lived in several locations. I am not sure, but I believe the locations might have been Texas and Illinois, amongst other locations. She was never legally married to Charles Armistead. She just started using his last name. Charles Armistead was African American. Don't know what ever happened to him, I am looking into that too. According to the authors of the book, one of her son's, who was gay, died of AIDS. Another son, as I recall was either found murdered or drowned. It appears that they all had different last names.

I looked for the basis for this movie for a really long time. I was so excited when I learned the real story that it was based on. I was quite surprised, that the actual case happened almost 20 years before the movie aired. It was fascinating to scour through all of the original articles on the case. I am going to be putting together a timeline in the case. Stay tuned...
